“…However, the concomitant differences in serum cholesterol levels cannot be due to a limited capacity of the females to excrete bile acids, a phenomenon in squirrel monkeys which has been attributed to genotype differences (11). The results of the pres ent study and of previous ones with rats (4) and cockerels (3) show that increased blood cholesterol levels of those animals when fed cholesterol (3 ,4 ) or even on commercial diet low in cholesterol (3) are always followed by increased excretion of bile acids. On the other hand, the relationship between blood cholesterol levels and fecal bile acid excretion in human beings fed fats with different fatty acid composition are quite different.…”
