Hyperdeproteinized natural rubber prepared with urea

Abstract: Preparation of hyperdeproteinized natural rubber was made from fresh latex and preserved highammonia latex by treatment with urea in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. Concentration of urea, temperature, and time for the incubation were investigated to remove the proteins effectively. Under the best conditions, the total nitrogen content and amount of allergenic proteins for the deproteinized rubbers were 0.005 wt % and 1.0 g/ml, respectively, which were less than those of natural rubber deproteinized wit… Show more

“…Remarkably, for the TPC‐S material, the process used reduced Hevea antigenic protein to below detection limits (Table ). Nevertheless, the solubilization and centrifugation process used here reduced the measureable antigenic proteins at least as effectively as treatments based on surfactant/proteolytic enzyme/centrifugation/urea …”

“…After that, the resulting latex was subjected to the centrifugation at 10 000 rpm at 15°C for 30 minutes . The resulting DPNR latex was subjected to the hydrogenation in the presence of palladium black as catalyst and hydrogen atmosphere at 70°C at various reaction times in order to prepare HDPNR samples containing different C═C carbon double bond contents …”

“…The incubation of the latex was made with 0.1 w/w% urea in the presence of 1 w/w% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) at 303 K followed by centrifugation at 10,000 rpm. Cream fraction was re-dispersed in 1 w/ w% SDS to make 30 w/w% dry rubber content (DRC) latex, and it was washed twice by centrifugation to prepare deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR) latex [11,12]. The DPNR latex was diluted with distilled water to adjust 10 w/ w% DRC, and concentration of SDS was adjusted to 0.1 w/ w%.…”
