Hyperfine dipole-dipole broadening of selective reflection spectroscopy at the gas-solid interface

Abstract: We theoretically and experimentally investigate hyperfine dipole-dipole broadening in the selective reflection (SR) spectroscopy at the gas-solid interface with the atomic density of 10 14 -10 15 cm −3 . The two-level SR theory considering pump beam and dipole-dipole interaction between excited-state atom and ground-state atom is presented. The numerical simulation of the SR spectrum is in agreement with experimental results. The reduction of spectral width is observed by introducing a pump beam which is an ef… Show more

“…We compare the obtained rate with values reported in the literature in table 1. Our value is in agreement with experimental references [4,8] and is lower than older [2,6,[20][21][22][23]. As mentioned before [4,9] the determination of the atomic density based on the reservoir temperature leads to inaccurate values.…”

“…Here, the region probed for the collisional width determination is closer to resonance than the Weisskopf frequency, thus, our work is in the impact approximation regime. The collisional rate measured in this work is in agreement or slitly smaller than previous measurement in the impact regime [4,6,8]. The measured rate is smaller than those obtained previously in the quasi-static regime [2,[20][21][22][23].…”
