Hyperspectral monitoring AOTF-based apparatus

Abstract: The apparatus for hyperspectral imaging in visible range is described. The rugged and compact design makes it suitable for unmanned aerial vehicles. The system is capable both for recording the entire spectral-spatial data (“hypercube”) and for selective grabbing the spectral images at characteristic wavelengths. This selective mode provides real-time extracting the most valuable information from the monitoring scene and reduces requirements for operation speed and data storage capacity of processing subsystem… Show more

“…The merits of the AOTF include a small size, light weight, lack of moving parts, flexible wavelength selection, and strong environmental adaptability [20,[47][48][49], which make it suitable as a light-splitting device in a high-resolution imaging spectrometer applied for aerial remote sensing [50]. The AOTF hyperspectral imager provides a novel spectral scanning imaging method.…”

“…Both AOTF and LCTF require large external power and large optical pathway, which makes them unsuitable candidates for ultracompact systems 94 . While the size of the filters in AOTF and LCTF themselves is compact and lightweight (often <1 kg), 88 , 89 , 118 , 145 , 146 it is the weight of filter driver that adds up to the weight of these devices.
