Abstract:Hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HKPP) is a rare genetic disorder with autosomal dominant inheritance and characterized by recurrent attacks of skeletal muscle weakness with associated hypokalemia which is precipitated by stress, cold, carbohydrate load, infection, glucose infusion, hypothermia, metabolic alkalosis, anesthesia and steroids.
