“…Comparable antihypertensive effects have been demonstrated for 40-80 mg xipamide and 5 mg bendrofluazide, 40 mg xipamide and 100 mg chlorthalidone, 40 mg xipamide and 50 mg hydrochlorothiazide, 20 mg xipamide and 50 mg chlorthalidone, 10-20 mg xipamide and 0.5 mg cyclopenthiazide, and 20 mg xipamide and 2.5 mg indapamide (32,42,43,47,61,62). Xipamide at 9 mg was more effective in lowering arterial pressure than 69 mg of hydrochlorothiazide (39). It can be concluded that as an antihypertensive agent xipamide is at least as potent as other diuretics.…”
