Kerala has the highest known diversity of freshwater crabs among the Indian states, and many more species are likely to be added to the state, especially from the Western Ghats. The present specimens from the Western Ghats of Kerala add two more species records to Kerala: Oziotelphusa wagrakarowensis (Rathbun, 1904) and Vanni nilgiriensis (Roux, 1931). Although O. wagrakarowensis was reported from the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, it has not been recorded from Kerala previously. The present record of O. wagrakarowensis also constitutes the first reliable report of the species from the Western Ghats. The other species, V. nilgiriensis, was previously known from the Western Ghats of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Kerala now includes 37 species of gecarcinucid crabs with the addition of these two new records whereas the Western Ghats of India currently has 59 species.

A new genus and species of gecarcinucid crab are described here from the Namdapha Tiger Reserve of Arunachal Pradesh, India; Abortelphusa namdaphaensis gen. et sp. nov. is morphologically distinct from other related genera, like Phricotelphusa Alcock, 1909, Globitelphusa Alcock, 1909, Liotelphusa Alcock, 1909, and in having a discrete suite of characters, i.e., carapace squarish, surface randomly pitted, a wide frontal margin ca. 0.5 times the total carapace width; epigastric cristae rugose, post orbital cristae indiscernible; third maxilliped exopod lacking a flagellum; male pleon narrowly triangular, sixth pleonal somite trapezoidal; terminal segment of male first gonopod subcylindrical, outwardly bent, tip not truncated. The relationship of this new genus and species with other gecarcinucid genera from India is discussed.

A new genus and new species of gecarcinucid freshwater crab, Aradhya placida gen. et sp. nov., is recognized from the northern part of the Central Western Ghats of India. The new genus is diagnosed, and the new species from the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state, is described herein. The new genus most resembles Arcithelphusa Pati & Sudha Devi, 2015, Cylindrotelphusa Alcock, 1909, Rajathelphusa Raj, Kumar & Ng, 2021, and Pavizham Raj, Kumar & Ng, 2022, in having an ovate, relatively narrow and deep carapace, with the front narrow as compared to other Indian gecarcinucid genera. Aradhya gen. nov. is nevertheless separated from those genera by the characters in the carapace, epigastric and postorbital cristae, external orbital angle, cervical grooves, third maxilliped, chelipeds, male thoracic sternites/sternopleonal cavity/pleon, male second gonopod, and especially by the elongated male telson and the stouter ultimate article of the male first gonopod.
