Ibero-American Online News Managers’ Goals and Handicaps in Managing Social Media

Abstract: This article presents the results of a study of social media uses and standards from the perspectives of online newspaper managers in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, and Portugal. 1 Interviews with online news managers and a content analysis of journalists' use of Facebook and Twitter accounts show that cultural, economic, and organizational factors handicap news outlets' adoption of social media.
