Identification and validation of anoikis-associated gene SNCG as a prognostic biomarker in gastric cancer

Abstract: Anoikis is a newly discovered form of apoptosis that was originally identified in the extracellular matrix (ECM).Recent studies have reported that anoikis is central to cancer metastasis. Here, SNCG was identified as hub anoikis-associated gene in GC and associated with prognosis of patients with GC. To screen the hub anoikisassociated genes connected to GC, the database of Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) was employed. For further validating these identified genes, the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset was appl… Show more

“…Anoikis plays an essential role in cancer progression and has piqued the interest of cancer researchers. Studies on anoikis' effects on cancer are becoming more common [27,28], and these studies have allowed us to better understand anoikis' potential in cancer treatment. ARGs and anoikis have not been thoroughly studied about osteosarcoma.…”

“…The association of synucleins with cancer was first documented for γ-synuclein in breast cancer [70] and later in several other types of cancer [43,[71][72][73]. Accumulating data indicates that two other members of the synuclein family (α and β) are also associated with tumorigenesis (reviewed in [12]].…”

“…[ 7 ] This vital process assumes a paramount role as the primary line of defense against metastasis, while simultaneously orchestrating tissue homeostasis and development. [ 8 , 9 ] Additionally, it has been extensively elucidated that anoikis protects against metastasis and aberrant proliferation of detached tumor cells, thus emerging as a pivotal player in the genesis and progression of neoplastic formations. [ 10 , 11 ] Moreover, as the frontiers of omics technology and bioinformatics continue to expand, mounting evidence underscores the stringent influence exerted by a subset of anoikis-related genes (ARGs) upon the intricate machinery governing tumor metastasis.…”
