Identification of differentially expressed proteins of Arthrospira (Spirulina) plantensis-YZ under salt-stress conditions by proteomics and qRT-PCR analysis

Abstract: Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis as a representative species of cyanobacteria has been recognized and used worldwide as a source of protein in the food, which possesses some unusual and valuable physiological characteristics, such as alkali and salt tolerance. Based on complete genome sequencing of Arthrospira (Spirulina) plantensis-YZ, we compared the protein expression profiles of this organism under different salt-stress conditions (i.e. 0.02 M, 0.5 M and 1.0 M NaCl, respectively), using 2-D electrophoresi… Show more

“…The selected spots were in-gel digested with trypsin as previously described [ 23 , 24 ] with minor modification. Briefly, protein spots were washed twice with ultrapure water, destained twice with 25mM NH 4 HCO 3 in 50% acetonitrile (ACN), dehydrated with 50% ACN and 100% ACN, and then lyophilized in an ALPHA 2–4 LSC Freeze Dryer (Martin Christ, GmbH, Osterode, Germany).…”

“…Another proteomic study of Arthrospira was focused on protein expression under salt stress (Wang et al, 2013 ). The strain A. platensis -YZ was grown under salt-stress conditions: 0.02, 0.5, 1.0 M NaCl, and the protein expression patterns were compared.…”

“…These genome investigations paved the way for studies of the response of Arthrospira to various stresses using transcriptomic and/or proteomic studies ( e . g ., response to light/dark cycle [ 32 ], temperature stress [ 33 ] or salt stress [ 34 ]). So far, a few studies have investigated the response of Arthrospira to N limitation on the proteomic level [ 14 ].…”
