Grova et al (2017) identified new tetrahydroxylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (tetra-OH-PAHs) released from the hydrolysis of DNA-adducts in hair, which might be useful for the biomonitoring of human internal exposure to PAHs. The relevance of tetra-OH-PAH analysis in hair as a biomarker of PAH exposure was evaluated in a dose-response study in which 64 rats were repeatedly exposed (three times per week) to a mixture of 16 PAHs at low doses (0.01 to 0.8 mg/kg) for 90 days.…”
