Identification of three SNPs insmad4gene by tetra‐primer ARMS PCR and analysis of their associations with growth traits in gynogenetic populations ofCulter alburnus

Abstract: Three single nucleotide polymorphisms, c.1462C > T, c.1663G > T and c.2023G > A, in smad4 gene were isolated and typed in a normal population (meio‐G0), a first‐generation gynogenetic population (meio‐G1) and a second‐generation gynogenetic population (meio‐G2) in topmouth culter (Culter alburnus) by using the tetra‐primer amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS) PCR. The homozygosity of different loci in the three populations was analysed to study the efficiency of gene purification in this fish. Corre… Show more

“…Under the same conditions, selecting individuals with higher GSI can accelerate the reproduction speed, improve the efficiency and obtain more benefits. At present, SNP researches in aquatic economic species are mainly focused on screening more loci associated with growth traits (Chi et al, 2020; Du et al, 2021; Thanh et al, 2010). There were a few reports on screening more loci in reproduction related genes which associated with reproductive traits, such as SNPs of CYP19a gene associated with GSI in Paralichthys olivaceus , SNPs of MIH gene associated with precocity in Eriocheir sinensis and SNPs of catechol O‐methyltransferase gene associated with GSI in Penaeus monodon (Buaklin et al, 2016; He et al, 2008; Xu et al, 2016).…”

“…Additionally, gynogenesis is inherited by the mother line, and most of the genes are homozygous. Compared with the results obtained by the continuous inbreeding of several generations in traditional breeding, gynogenesis can rapidly establish pure lines, which provide not only an ideal template for embryology physiology and genomics research but also a strong basis for genetic breeding by the fixation of good traits (Chen et al, 2008; Chi et al, 2020; Coimbra et al, 2003; Polonis et al, 2018).…”
