“…Although several previous studies have described baseline differences in recipient, donor, and intraoperative characteristics between pediatric liver transplant recipients with IE and DE, this is one of the first to identify independent risk factors against IE using a multivariable logistic regression model that accounts for confounding effects. [6][7][8][9][10][11] Our data suggest that recipients who are younger than 2 years, had respiratory failure prior to their transplant, and/or required high amounts of pressor support intraoperatively are unlikely to be immediately extubated, while the majority of recipients without these risk factors can be safely and successfully extubated in the OR.
