Immunogenicity of antigen‐conjugated biodegradable polydiacetylene liposomes administered mucosally

Abstract: In this work, we report a protocol for synthesizing nanosize ovalbumin-functionalized polydiacetylene (PDA) liposomes (LP-Ova). We show that LP-Ova administered per-orally (p.o.) and subcutaneously (s.c.), without the use of adjuvants, induces high serum IgG1 titers. As reported previously using polystyrene nanoparticles (NPs), p.o.-primed mice developed high titers of IgG2c and intestinal IgA following s.c. boosting immunization with LP-Ova. Mice that received a single s.c. immunization with LP-Ova did not de… Show more

“…Moreover, NMs with different modification can also resist the invasion of Salmonella enteritis and prevent anaphylactic shock through modulating immune responses through enhancing Th1 effect, the release of Treg cytokines, and immune memory. [95][96][97][98][99] These studies indicate that NMs either serve as delivery vector for drugs, or as nanotherapeutic agents with intrinsic antiinflam matory properties.…”

“…For extrusion to be effective, usually filtration of solution multiple times (10 times or more) is needed to reduce and control the nanoliposome size (for example, please see Abrams et al). 31 After nanobiofungicide particles were sonicated, they were stored at 4 °C. The storage at low temperature facilitates the self-assembly of the lipids and fatty acids in the membrane.…”
