Immunoglobulin A pemphigus associated with immunoglobulin A gammopathy and lung cancer

Abstract: Immunoglobulin (Ig)A pemphigus is a rare disease marked by a vesiculopustular eruption characterized by intercellular IgA deposition in the epidermis. It has clinical and histopathological heterogeneity and encompasses two subgroups: subcorneal pustular dermatosis type and intraepidermal neutrophilic IgA dermatosis type. IgA pemphigus has been rarely associated with monoclonal IgA paraprotein, myeloma and B-cell lymphoma in the past. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of a 47-year-old male patient wit… Show more

“…Our case may be considered to be paraneoplastic IgA pemphigus, because lymphoma was discovered simultaneously, and the cutaneous manifestations subsided after remission of the lymphoma. Similar clinical courses were observed in other cases 4–6 . Immunological disturbances caused by lymphoma may have triggered the occurrence of antibodies against Dsc2 and Dsc3.…”

“…IgA gammopathy evolving into multiple myeloma is documented 4 . Other cases showed haematological malignancies including those of B‐cell origin, 5 while some cases were associated with solid tumours 6 . “…Lung cancer has been reported in coexistence with wide range of ABD: PV [17,27,28], PNP [29], pemphigus vegetans [30,31], pemphigus herpetiformis [32], IgA pemphigus [33], BP [34] and MMP [35]. In some BP cases, tumor resection led to complete recovery [36] supporting the thesis of close interrelation of the diseases.…”
