Chemical fertilisers and insecticides have increased at an alarming rate in India since the green revolution. Excessive chemical use has a negative influence on the ecosystem, soil, human health, and Consumption of groundwater purity. To limit the usage of artificial fertilisers and pesticides in this situation, the Zero Budget Natural Farming technique was implemented. Agriculture is a significant industry in India. It is essential for the Indian economy's survival and expansion. The majority of farmers rely extensively on inorganic external chemical inputs like as fertilisers and pesticides, which pollute groundwater and other water-dependent ecosystems while also reducing soil fertility over time. The continued use of pesticides and chemicals poses a major threat to the health of Indian farmers.Zero-budget farming has the potential to significantly reduce production expenses. Mulching, soil protection measures, natural insecticides, and fertilisers are used by low-budget farmers. Jivamrita, Bijamrita, Acchadana (Mulching), and Whapasa are the four main pillars of natural farming on a low budget. Mulching, soil conservation measures, natural insecticides, and fertilisers are used by farmers on a low budget. The continual retention of crop wastes replenishes soil fertility and aids in soil health maintenance. Pest and disease management is an important part of zero-budget natural farming crop production methods. Under the conditions of climate change, achieving food security would necessitate a holistic system approach that incorporates natural agricultural principles for a sustainable agriculture.In this paper, we have discussed about the concept, need, benefits, major pillars, principles of ZBNF, opportunities and challenges of adopting ZBNF and the factors to scale up zero budget natural farming.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk 1). Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani mitra dalam teknik bercocok tanam padi gogo beras merah organik 2). Petani mitra akan mampu memproduksi pupuk orgnanik berupa biokompos dan biorin menggunakan kotoran sapi dan sisa pakan ternak dengan teknologi fermentasi menggunakan jamur Tricoderma spp. Metode yang akan digunakan pada program PkM ini adalah metode pelatihan yang dilanjutkan dengan kerja praktik lapang dan kaji tindak partisipatif aktif (partisipatory action research) di lapangan secara aktif sejak mulai persiapan hingga evaluasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di kelompok tani Putra Gembala untuk pembuatan biokompos dan biourin dan Kelompok Tani Harapan II untuk praktik budidaya padi gogo beras merah organic. Dengan melibatkan10 anggota kelompok. Kesimpulan: 1. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pada kelompok tani Harapan II dan kelompok tani Putra Gembala dalam budidaya padi gogo beras merah organic dilahan kering dengan menggunakan pupuk pupuk organic padat (Biokompos) dan pupuk organic cair (biourin) Trichoderma sp dari limbah kotoran sapi.

Agriculture is extremely important in a developing country like India. Apart from fulfilling the food requirement of the growing Indian population, it also helps to improve the country’s economy. By 2050, 60% of India’s population would have severe food insecurity. Increased food production is critically needed, but high production costs and market price fluctuations are forcing farmers into debt. The usage of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has expanded in India since the green revolution. Excessive chemical use has a negative influence on the ecosystem, soil, human health and groundwater purity. Spiritual farming or Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is the most effective way to lower farmers’ input costs. Subhash Palekar practised and advocated Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) in India. Building elements of ZBNF are jeevamrith, bijamrith, mulching and soil aeration. These four approaches contribute to improved soil health, microbial population and crop output. Intercropping, contour bunds, crop rotation, green manures, compost, and biological pest management is some of the other fundamental elements. Spiritual farming as the potential to reduce pollution while also preserving productivity in our agroecosystem and has the ability to improve agricultural viability and food security.
