Impedimetric immunosensor for dengue diagnosis using graphite screen-printed electrodes coated with poly(4-aminophenylacetic acid)

Abstract: Dengue is an infectious viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the control of which is complex. In addition, the clinical diagnosis is difficult to perform since it resembles other febrile infections; thus, the development of more effective methods to detect dengue virus (DV) has drawn increasing attention. The present study aimed to develop an impedimetric immunosensor for dengue diagnosis using a screen-printed electrode (SPE) functionalized with polymer films derived from 4-aminophenylacet… Show more

“…The Warburg impedance appears as an oblique line with an angle close to 45 in the Nyquist plot at low frequencies, which is related to mass-transfer limited processes. 55 The R ct value can be estimated as the semicircle diameter, which represents the oxidative and reductive reactions kinetics involving the [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3À/4À ions, used by the electrode as an electron source. As demonstrated in Fig.…”

“…Moreover, EIS offers label free detection of specific antigen-antibody reactions [145]. Till now, different electrochemical based biosensor development approaches have been reported, including carbon nanotube, screen printing, gold nanoparticles, and peptides [148][149][150][151]. EIS technology based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was developed for DENV 1-4 [145].…”

“…The preparation of ion imprinted polymer (IIP) based on poly-4-aminophenylacetic (poly-4-APA) films was performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in a potential range between −0.2 and 1.2 V vs. pseudo Ag/AgCl, at a scan rate of 50 mV s −1 for 40 cycles in a solution of H2SO4 0.5 M containing 1 mM of Cd 2+ ions. The porogen was chosen based on previous works about the electrosynthesis of poly-4-APA on SPE [8]. After the electropolymerization, the electrode was rinsed with MilliQ water and incubated in different solvent (EDTA 100 mM and 250 mM, H2SO4 500 mM, NaOH 100 mM and 250 mM) to remove the target.…”
