Implementation evaluation of proactive content caching using DASH-NDN-JS

Abstract: Proactive content caching scheme utilizing transportation systems, especially on trains, was proposed in order to provide a robust content delivery with efficient wireless resource usage. This system requires content servers with NDN capability to be placed on every station and trains. The mechanism is to pre-cache the contents that users request to the station server before the train arrives, and the train server caches the content during its stoppage time. With this mechanism, users are able to have a contin… Show more

“…Similarly, the margin ( β n ) becomes longer as the smart scheduler selects the same DASH representation as Inequality (9). A wise use of cellular connections can also handle flexible users' playback behaviors, in particular, channel zapping, but, this is our future work.…”

“…First, CCNx was replaced with NDNx because the latest CCNx is no longer available as open-source software and the NDN-based prototype written in JavaScript was developed, and we call it DASH-NDN-JS [9]. DASH-NDN-JS integrates DASH-JS and NDN-JS to allow playback of DASH content on web browsers instead of VLC.…”
