Implementation of Guided Inquiry Based On Contextual Approach to Improve Students Critical Thinking Skills on Reaction Rate Material

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills on the reaction rate material by implementing a guided inquiry based on a contextual approach. The subjects were students of class XI MIA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Gedangan with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The methods used to collect data are observations, tests, and response questionnaires. The research instruments used were critical thinking skills test sheets, observation sheet of learning model implementat… Show more

“…Another effort in developing thinking skills in chemistry learning is by applying the guided inquiry learning model. Based on studies that have carried out the application of face-to-face guided inquiry and effective blended learning to improve students' CT skills (Anjarwati & Nasrudin, 2022;Mahanani et al, 2019;Saekawati & Nasrudin, 2021;Sari et al, 2018;Seranica et al, 2018). The guided inquiry learning model can develop CT skills because this model emphasizes students in the process of seeking and finding answers to the formulated problems themselves, through this learning model, students can solve problems both in learning and everyday life with their CT (Cahyani & Azizah, 2019;Sari et al, 2018;Seranica et al, 2018).…”

“…The application of the guided inquiry model to develop CT skills can be integrated with approaches such as the contextual approach and the SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, and Society) approach (Anjarwati & Nasrudin, 2022;Sari et al, 2018). Through the application of guided inquiry based on a contextual approach, students' curiosity will increase and it will be easier for them to understand the material.…”

“…Integrating learning models in student worksheets can provide a learning framework for higher-order thinking processes. Students' critical thinking skills can be empowered using a guided inquiry learning model (Anjarwati & Nasrudin, 2022;Febri et al, 2020). Guided inquiry is a learning model that focuses on critical and analytical thinking processes to seek, investigate, and find answers or solutions to the problems posed (Rambe et al, 2020).…”

“…Guided inquiry is a learning model that focuses on critical and analytical thinking processes to seek, investigate, and find answers or solutions to the problems posed (Rambe et al, 2020). In applying the guided inquiry learning model, students are encouraged to change their way of learning to be more active and participatory (Anjarwati & Nasrudin, 2022). Guided inquiry involves exploring a phenomenon, focusing on inquiry, conducting an investigation, analyzing the data and evidence, constructing new knowledge, and communicating new knowledge (Llewellyn, 2013).…”
