Abstract: Background: Alkaline phosphatase has 4 isozymes, tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP), placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), intestinal alkaline phosphatase and germ-cell alkaline phosphatase. Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited skeletal disease caused by mutations of the gene encoding TNAP.
