Improvement of Cervical Spine Radiography in the Supine Position

Abstract

It has been difficult to obtain accurate radiographlc images of the oblique cervical spine in the supine posi − tion ． We developed a new technique that combined the sliding top bucky table and a radiographic supporting device． Our technique improved the reproducibility of images because the geometry was a ］ ways the same ， Fur − ther ， no special technique is required ． The radiographic mag 丗 且cation factor of the supine position wa ． s approxi − mately l3 ％ larger thamhat of the standing position ， but image quality − amd clinical evaluation were a ユ most the same ． In conclusion ， our new technique for oblique pr 〔｝ jection of cervical spine radiography in the supine posi − tion does not require co − workers to hold the patient In addition ， thistechnique provjded cervical spine radiog − raphy with reduced discomfbrt for the patient ， 闢 ・
