Purpose. To determine the correlation between adhesion tightness of filtering half-masks and anthropometric indices of employees faces. Methodology. To study tightness of the half-mask adhesion to a users face, a coefficient of NaCl aerosol test was determined in accordance with the requirements by DSTU EN 149:2017 (EN 149:2001+A1:2009, IDT). Volunteers took part in the testing selected in keeping with the parametric table divided into 12 settings along the face length and across its width. The tests were carried out using Respi and Standart respirators produced in lots by SPE Standart ltd. Findings. It has been identified that the tested filtering half-masks correspond to the standards by DSTU EN 149:2017 (EN 149:2001+A1:2009, IDT) and provide adequate protection of respiratory organs of users against harmful aerosols. It has been demonstrated that the required half-mask adhesion to a face depends upon the obturator design, half-mask geometry, and stretching force of a headband. It has been proved that employees with small faces require the instrumental verification of the preferred half-mask while selecting respiratory protective equipment. In turn, for users with large faces quality control is quite sufficient by means of any suitable method described by DSTU EN 529:2006 (EN 529:2005, IDT). Individuals with large faces have demonstrated the greatest values of the tightness coefficient of filtering half-mask adhesion. Originality. It is represented by the scientific substantiation of the tightness coefficient of filtering half-mask adhesion upon the length and width of users faces. Practical value. Mathematical expressions have been derived making it possible to calculate the tightness coefficient of the half-mask adhesion relying upon the face size. The abovementioned will help assess preliminarily protective characteristics of respirators without specific laboratory equipment.

Purpose. Scientific substantiation of the expedient depth of mining the non-metallic deposits of rocky minerals on the basis of mathematical and statistical methods, which will ensure resource-saving and rational use of natural resources. Methods. To solve the purpose set, the following methods are used: graphical-analytical – when optimizing the maximum depth of mining the deposits of building materials, and the method of mathematical modeling – for determining the maximum depth of mining the non-metallic deposits with internal dumping. By means of statistical processing according to systematized types of deposits, the patterns of a change in the maximum depth of mining the basic deposits, depending on the main parameters of the quarry field, have been studied. Findings. A new methodology, which is distinguished by taking into account in-pit dumping, has been developed for calculating the maximum depth of granite quarries, which most of all influences the efficiency of mining operations and the value of economic indicators while ensuring the maximum economic effect with the achievement of a rational maximum depth of mining the deposit. A new, theoretically substantiated methodology has been created for determining the maximum depth of mining the mineral deposits for the production of crushed-stone products while providing the resource- and land-saving during the quarry operation. Originality. For the first time for these deposits, the dependence of their maximum mining depth on the main parameters of the quarry field and the place of internal dumping of overburden rocks has been determined. This has become a determining factor in the appropriate mining of deep non-metallic deposits of building materials with internal dumping, which provides a minimal land disturbance. Practical implications. The research results have been tested and implemented in working projects for mining the Liubymivske, Chaplynske, Pervomaiske, Mykytivske, Trykratske and Novoukrainske granite deposits; as a result of additional mining of mineral reserves, their additional increment in the volume from 1 to 48 million m3 is possible, which will ensure 5-40 years of sustainable operation of the mining enterprise.

Purpose. Study the movement of waste rock flows in the coal mine technological system and determine the balance of rocks and underground cavities formation from the perspective of the current mining operations development in order to assess the possibility of leaving the rock in the underground area. Methods. Based on the rank order of the Western Donbass mines, a coal mine has been chosen as the object of research in terms of maximum output and ash content. An algorithm is proposed for analytical studies of determining the rock outcrop in the course of stope, drifting and repair operations, as well as the prospective volumes of underground cavities for placing the formed waste rocks per a calendar year. The algorithm is based on the actual state of mining operations and the indicators of the stope and drifting faces of the mine, as well as the achieved modern mining-engineering parameters of the coal seams mining. Findings. It has been revealed that the main supply of waste rocks to the surface occurs as a result of stope operations with rock undercut -39% and underground mine workings -33%. It is proposed to differentiate all waste rock outcropped after mining operations into 2 categories: difficult to dispose of and prospective for disposal. It has been found that underground cavities have enormous potential for stockpiling of all waste rocks, the volume of which is by 2.8-4.8 times higher than the rock volume. It has been revealed that the most rational balance of waste rocks and cavities for leaving the rock in the mine is formed along the С 10 t seam. It has been determined that the full-fledged placement of rocks is limited by the scheduling peculiarities of mining the reserves along the seams, which are made for the complete cave-in technology of coal mining. Originality. For the first time, for one of the Western Donbass mines, the balance of formed waste rocks and potential underground cavities, dynamically changing in time and space, has been determined. Practical implications. The results obtained are useful for engineering new spatial planning solutions for the optimal development of mining operations with the maximum possible rocks stockpiling in the underground area of mines.
