Improving the performance of ultra-flexible perovskite photodetectors through cation engineering

Abstract: High performance ultra-flexible lightweight perovskite photodetectors have promising applications on a variety of substrates, including those used on unmanned aerial vehicles. Herein, we report on a facile method to improve the performance of perovskite photodetectors on flexible ultrathin (50 μm) polyimide substrates by tuning the composition with different ratios of cations. In the presence of lead thiocyanate, the introduction of a certain amount of formamidinium could sufficiently enhance the quality of me… Show more

“…Figure c displays a top-view SEM image of the MA 0.4 FA 0.6 PbI 3 film. It is evident that uniform micrometer-sized grains are passivated at the grain boundaries by excess PbI 2 . In Figure S1 (Supporting Information), the EDS image of the thin film reveals the reduction of Pb and I elements and the deficiency of N elements at grain boundaries.…”

It further confirms the formation of PbI 2 at grain boundaries.…”

“…Figure 1b presents the cross-sectional SEM image of the device, showing the perovskite lm thickness of approximately 600 nm and Ag thickness of 200 nm. The MA 0.4 FA 0.6 PbI 3 lm utilized in this study was prepared using one-step spin-coating method 37 . Detailed can be found in the methods section.…”

“…[31][32][33] Although the synthesis and bulk properties of low-dimensional Cs copper halides have been reported, the studies about a wide range of compositional variations of halogen anions and the material application as photodetector on exible substrates are limited at present. 34,35 This solid-state reaction technique can be considered as environmentally friendly chemistry because it does not involve the utilization of solvents.…”
