In Silico Analysis of PKS and NRPS Gene Clusters in Arisostatin- and Kosinostatin-Producers and Description of Micromonospora okii sp. nov.

Abstract: Micromonospora sp. TP-A0316 and Micromonospora sp. TP-A0468 are producers of arisostatin and kosinostatin, respectively. Micromonospora sp. TP-A0316 showed a 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 100% to Micromonosporaoryzae CP2R9-1T whereas Micromonospora sp. TP-A0468 showed a 99.3% similarity to Micromonospora haikouensis 232617T. A phylogenetic analysis based on gyrB sequences suggested that Micromonospora sp. TP-A0316 is closely related to Micromonospora oryzae whereas Micromonospora TP-A0468 is an independ… Show more

“…5a). In support to these data, production of PCH or PCH homologs has been reported for these actinomycetes species and for members of the Brevibacillus and Vibrio genera [61,[63][64][65]. All the species identified have been described as soil-dwelling bacteria that can thus be found in the same ecological niche as B. velezensis [66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74].…”

“…The product was predicted to be quinolidomicin based on the domain organization and similarities to quinolidomicin’s PKSs (QmnA1 to QmnA13) [ 37 ]. The gene cluster is widely distributed in the genus Micromonospora [ 38 ]. The product of t2pks-2 could not be predicted because the type-II PKSs did not show high sequence similarities to enzymes for the reported compounds.…”

“… Micromonospora is known as rich in polyketide synthase (PKS) type and non-ribosomally synthesized peptide synthetase (NRPS)-type biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) [15]. A recent study reports an example of the production of multiple bioactive secondary metabolites by single strains of Micromonospora , from which BGCs were identified through the genome analyses [16].…”
