“…Nanocomposites containing graphene have been used in a variety of applications, such as those in electricity, mechanics, separation, and catalysts . It has been pointed out that the mechanical enhancement of nanocomposites can be achieved when graphene is dispersed homogeneously in the polymer matrix and the interfacial interactions between the fillers and the polymer matrix is strong .…”

“…The functionalization of graphene, such as oxidation, can effectively reduce its agglomeration in the polymer matrix. Graphene oxide (GO) can be synthesized from graphite by Hummer method . GO is heavily oxygenated, and its oxygen‐containing functional groups include hydroxyls, epoxides, diols, ketones, and carboxyls; these can make GO strongly hydrophilic and give it a good dispersion in water .…”

“…Various interpretations for the role of promoters, such as the geometric blocking effect of active sites [17,20,33] and the formation of a complex among Pt, Bi, and substrate [34], have been proposed. In this work, the Bi species on the Pt-Bi/ HT catalysts were observed in the form of Bi metal and BiOCl due to the slightly different preparation procedure, in which Bi loading was carried out in the absence of hydrochloric acid with BiCl 3 as precursor of Bi, showing that the catalyst preparation methods have an important effect on the composition and structure of catalysts and their catalytic performance [35]. Based on the previous mechanism and catalytic reaction results, a plausible model is proposed as shown in Figure 6 to elucidate the promoting role of Bi species on the Pt/HT catalyst in the selective oxidation of glycerol towards DHA.…”

“…14 However, these methods are complicated and require large amounts of NaOH during the synthesis. 24 Several groups also reported on the possible toxic effects of Cu 2 O and CuO NPs on humans and the environment. 13,[17][18][19][20] Although nanocatalysts have many advantages, they have not been commercialized because of their limitations in recyclability and possible human and health hazards.…”

“…24 After each cycle, the Cu 2 O octahedrons catalyst was recovered by the precipitation method and washed with water to remove the residues. We also examined the recyclability of the Cu 2 O for the reduction of MB over five cycles to check the stability of the catalyst and the collection efficiency.…”
