“…Tinospora crispa Miers (family Menispermaceae) is used to treat jaundice, rheumatism, intermittent fever (Siddiqi et al, 1974;Noor and Ashcroft, 1998), malaria (Bertani et al, 2005), filariasis (Zaridah et al, 2001) and also well known for anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic properties (HMR, 2002;Singh et al, 2003). Psidium guajava L. (from family Myrtaceae) has been employed for treating various diseases such as relieving cough, pulmonary disorders, wounds, and ulcers.…”

“…Andrographis paniculata and Barringtonia acutangula extracts provided around 50% viable cells from extract treatments without venom preincubation and expected scorpion venom antidotes with low cytotoxicity (Uawonggul et al 2006); the extract of A. paniculata or andrographolide were found to enhance IgG antibody levels against Salmonella typhimurium, the enhancement being statistically significant in mice (Xu et al 2007); the crude extract showed potent antibacteria properties (Zaidan et al 2005); isolated six new ent-labdane diterpenoids were evaluated for their inhibitory activity against several bacterial and fungal strains (Shen et al 2006). Zaridah et al (2001) have reported that the aqueous extract from dried leaves of A. paniculata was tested in vitro against adult worms of Brugia malayi. Cocculus hirsutus is a widely growing plant found in the plains of India in dry localities and is used medicinally by the Indian tribes for a wide range of ailments, including constipation and kidney problems (Caius 1986;Usher 1984); the aerial parts aqueous extract showed significant diuretic activity and laxative effect in rats (Ganapaty et al 2002).…”

“…The movement of the worms was recorded microscopically for 6 h interval up to 24 h. The movement of the worms was assessed as whole body movement (score of 3), only part of body movement (score of 2), immobile but response to stimuli (score of 1), and no response or dead (score of 0). The movability index (MI) and relative movability (RM) were calculated according to Zaridah et al (2001).…”
