In Vivo Anti-Inflammatory, Analgesic, Sedative, Muscle Relaxant Activities and Molecular Docking Analysis of Phytochemicals from Euphorbia pulcherrima

Abstract: Euphorbia pulcherrima is an important medicinal plant that is used in a traditional system for its curative properties such as analgesic potency, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, sedation potential, and antidepressant and cure of diseases such as skin diseases. This study deals with the isolation of two flavonoids namely spinacetin (1) and patuletin (2) from chloroform fraction of Euphorbia pulcherrima. The isolated compound spinacetin (1) and patuletin (2) were screened for in vivo anti-inflammatory, analgesic… Show more

“…Different mu ( μ ) receptors in our brain are responsible for central pain sensation. In a previous article, Aljohani et al conducted an in silico analysis of the central analgesic activity by taking the 5C1M protein of μ receptors [ 58 ]. We also took that 5C1M protein, and it was docked with the above-mentioned ligands and the standard drug tramadol.…”

“…According to Singh et al, (2012), poinsettia extract can provide an anticonvulsant effect but does not affect the coordination of motor nerve cells and anxiety. The content of the flavonoids spinacetin and patuletin in poinsettia is thought to be able to have an excellent effect as an antiinflammatory, as evidenced by the decrease in oedema in rats' feet, besides that poinsettia also provides analgesic and sedative effects, and believed to have a muscle relaxant effect (Aljohani et al, 2022).…”

“…Due to the increasing scientific research in medicine-based informatics, the genetic algorithm has been tested using a set of genetic sequences from a group of vegetables of particular interest in medicine, such as Euphorbia pulcherrima, which has Anti-Inflammatory, Analgesic, Sedative, and Muscle-Relaxant Activities [29] . Preventing health complications is a significant motivation for studying the properties of vegetables.…”
