In vivo Characteristics of a Transplantable Marek's Disease Lymphoblastoid Cell Line, MDCC-MSB1-41C

Abstract: A Marek's disease (MD) lymphoblastoid cell line, MDCC-MSB1-41C, was highly transplantable and lethal for chickens. Autopsies showed extensive metastasis in various organs. The transplantabilities of the parent cell line, MDCC-MSB1, and another derivative line, MDCC-MSB1-33C, were transient. MD virus (MDV) could be isolated from the kidneys but not from the peripheral blood leukocytes of chickens inoculated with the MSB1-41C cell line. In addition, anti-MDV antibodies were produced both in chickens inoculated w… Show more

“…However, very little is k n o w n about the replication of M D V group in M D t u m o r cell lines. The present study was conducted to characterize the D N A structure of herpes-type viruses isolated from two independent cultures of MSB1-41C cells, a non-virus producing subline of M D C C -M S B 1 [18].…”

“…Important differences between these two tumor cell lines are the capacity to develop tumors and to adhere to the culture dish [16]. In this report, we have contrasted the biochemical properties of adherent MSB1-41C and non adherent MSB1 cell lines.…”

“…A Marek's disease (MD) lymphoblastoid T cell line, MDCC-MSB1-41C (MSB1-41C), was highly transplantable and metastatic in vivo, compared with the parental cell line MDCC-MSB1 (MSB1) [16]. Important differences between these two tumor cell lines are the capacity to develop tumors and to adhere to the culture dish [16].…”
