In Vivo Hair Growth Stimulating Activity of Ethanol Extract and Its Fractions From Rampai Lampung (Lycopersicon Esculentum Mill.) Leaves

Abstract: Hair loss is a hair problem that often occurs in every individual. Side effects caused by the use of synthetic drugs cause herbal remedies to be an option in overcoming hair loss and to stimulate hair growth. Rampai leaves (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) has traditionally been used to stimulate hair growth in the Lampung tribe. This study aim was to examine the activity of hair growth stimulation effects of ethanol extract and fraction (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water) from rampai leaves. The activity test … Show more

“…Phytochemical screening results of n-hexane fraction and leaf ethanol extract can be seen in Table 1. Our previous report 13 discussed and stated that the difference in the results of the phytochemical screening, was probably due to differences in plant origin.…”

“…Previously, we reported a research article called in-vivo hair growth stimulating the activity of ethanol extract and its fractions from Rampai Lampung (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) leaves and found that n-hexane fraction had growth hair activity better than other fractions compared to minoxidil as a positive control 13 . This study reports scientific data and information about the compounds contained in the L. esculentumn-hexane fraction to search for an anti-alopecia compound.…”

“…The concentrations of water fractions of cocoa pods used were 7.5%, 10.0%, and 12.5%. The choice of concentration was based on the dose test according to previous studies [ 29 , 30 ]. The results of testing hair growth stimulating activity in rabbits ( Table 3 and Figure 1 ) showed that positive control and test preparations had better hair growth than normal control and negative control.…”

“…Thêm vào đó, động vật là đối tượng nghiên cứu tốt vì chúng có vòng đời ngắn hơn, cho phép các nhà nghiên cứu quan sát động vật trong suốt cuộc đời và qua nhiều thế hệ. Ngoài ra, các mô hình động vật có thể dễ dàng bị ảnh hưởng bởi môi trường do nhà nghiên cứu kiểm soát về chế độ ăn, nhiệt độ, ánh sáng và các yếu tố khác [1], [21].…”
