Indonesia-Germany MathCityMap training: Shifting mobile math trails teacher training to a hybrid environment

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore how MathCityMap training for teachers can be designed and implemented in a hybrid setting. Design research has been carried out involving teachers from 34 provinces in Indonesia. A four-day model training program for indoor and outdoor activities in a hybrid setting has been designed. The core concept of designing modeling tasks and math trails, as well as the introduction to MathCityMap, were delivered in a hybrid mode between Indonesia and Germany. The activity continu… Show more

“…Baety (2021) explains that the quality of education and teacher professionalism are interrelated, so the two cannot be separated, especially in achieving educational goals. Teacher professionalism influences the quality of Explanation Inference Self-regulation Interpretation Analysis Evaluation education because the teacher determines the success and failure of a learning process, which will affect students' future (Cahyono et al, 2023;Putri et al, 2015).…”

“…According to the Institute for Management Development ( 2018), the quality rating of Indonesian teachers ranks fourteenth out of fourteen Asia-Pacific nations. This is evidenced by many teachers still requiring training in more diverse learning techniques (Cahyono et al, 2023;Putri et al, 2015). Many teachers still need academic credentials, so the development of teachers in Indonesia must be enhanced (Widayati et al, 2021).…”

“…The mathematical approach is one part of the STEM approach. Currently being developed a combination of STEM and trails which is a continuation of math trails or MathCityMap (MCM), which allows the creation of mathematical paths using digital technology (Benito et al, 2023;Cahyono et al, 2023;Navianto, 2023). Furthermore, MathCityMap is a trail about mathematics that is associated with technology from smartphones and the internet, from these mathematical trails means that mathematics can be found elsewhere by doing tasks that require data collection in various places (Corlu et al, 2023).…”
