Inflammation is related to unbalanced cardiac autonomic functions in hypertension: an observational study

Abstract: Objective: Study purpose was to examine the validity of a 13-item short form of the Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (MASES-SF) in an independent sample of 150 hypertensive Turkish patients. Methods: This is a methodological study and 150 adult patients, who are receiving medication for hypertension in the last one year, were included as the study sample. The sample of the study was chosen with the method of simple random sampling. The study was conducted between October 25, 2010 and Decembe… Show more

“…These instruments enable the identification of patients’ 9 educational needs and of specific conditions involving paradigms of health and disease, which are likely to change. 10 Thus, the aim of this study was to develop and psychometrically validate an instrument to assess the knowledge about the disease of patients enrolled in CR programs (HIPER-Q).…”

“…High fructose intake increases the number of low-density lipoprotein, decreases particle sizes with atherogenic effect, increases the expression of adhesion molecules in endothelial cells and triggers coronary pathophysiology and thus may cause atherosclerosis [10]. Some researches also show the relation between increased fructose intake and oxidative stress and inflammation which have a role in the pathophysiology of carotid artery atherosclerosis [11][12][13][14].…”

“…There are various tools for measuring self-efficacy in the literature. Many of these tools assess general or condition/ disease-specific self-efficacy [18], such as the Arthritis Self-Efficacy Scale [19], Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale [20,21], Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale [22], Generalized Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale [23,24], Self-Efficacy Scale [25], General Self-Efficacy Scale [26], COPD Self-Efficacy Scale [27], and Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form [28]. On the other hand, these available instruments evaluate generic or just a single disease or condition-specific self-efficacy level.…”
