“…The genotype frequencies of SNPs rs1130864 and rs3093062 revealed in this study did not differ significantly from those reported in other studies (Kim et al, 2008;Kolz et al, 2008;Almeida et al, 2009;Grammer et al, 2009;Schumacher et al, 2009;Mendoza-Carrera et al, 2010). Differences did arise, however, in the frequencies of SNP rs1130864 found in this study and those from a study conducted in Africa (Israelsson et al, 2009), which may be due to genetic differences between subjects.…”

“…Only one study has reported an association of the polymorphism rs1130864 in the CRP gene with increased serum levels of CRP in adolescents of western Mexico (Guadalajara, Jalisco) with Spanish high genetic component (INAFED, 2005;Mendoza-Carrera et al, 2010). However, these results may vary owing to the genetic diversity of the Mexican population.…”

“…The hsCRP is known to be regulated only in part by TNFa and, therefore, may not be reflective of the inflammatory effects of TNFa, which acts predominately in a paracrine manner. 38,39 Human studies have also shown that TNFa expression is regulated by dietary fatty acids, [40][41][42] and previous studies on the TNFA -308 G4A polymorphism have shown that the relationship between this polymorphism and obesity risk differed depending on dietary fat intake. 1,3 In agreement with this, and to our best knowledge, we are the first to show that with increasing dietary fat intake, irrespective of the type and quality, select measures (weight, BMI, body fat %, fat mass and waist) of body composition increased in black women with the TNFA -238 GA genotype and decreased or did not change in those with the GG genotype ( Figure 1).…”

“…The presence of high concentrations of IL-6 is related to inflammation, whereas polymorphisms such as rs1800795 and rs2069845 are associated with obesity and other diseases such as insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus (Mendoza-Carrera et al 2010, Corpeleijn et al 2010, Steemburgo et al 2009, Tabassum et al 2012. In a study carried out in India with children and adolescents aged 11 to 17 years, the IL-6 polymorphism rs2069845 had its risk allele associated with overweight/obesity, whereas in this same study IL-6 polymorphism rs1800795 was not associated with overweight/obesity (Tabassum et al 2012).…”
