In this study,w ed eveloped as uperstrong and reversible adhesive,whichcan possess ahigh bonding strength in the "adhesive" state and detach with the application of heating.A ni onic crystal (IC) gel, in whicha nI Cw as immobilized within as oft-polymer matrix, were synthesized via in situ photo-crosslinking of aprecursor solution composed of N, N-dimethyl acrylamide (DMAA) and am elted IC.T he obtained IC gel is homogenous and transparent at melt point. When cooled to the phase transition temperature of the IC,the gel turns into the adhesive with the adhesion strength of 5.82 MPa(on glasses), due to the excellent wetting of melted gel and at hin layer of crystalline IC with high cohesive strength formed on the substrates.T he synergistic effects between IC, polymer networks and substrates were investigated by solid state 1 HNMR and molecular dynamics simulation. Sucha n adhesive layer is reversable and can be detached by heating and subsequent re-adhesion via cooling. This study proposed the new design of removable adhesives,w hich can be used in dynamic and complex environments.

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives (HMPSAs) with polystyrene-isoprenestyrene (SIS) as the backbone material are widely used in transdermal drug delivery systems (TDDS) because of their high cohesive strength and drug-carrying capacity. However, it is restricted by its high hydrophobicity when loaded with hydrophilic drugs. In this study, HMPSAs with amphiphilic properties were created by mixing SIS with fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO-9) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) of different molecular weights to improve the ability of HMPSAs to deliver hydrophilic drugs. The effects of different molecular weights of PEG on the hydrophilicity of HMPSAs were also investigated. Additionally, gardenia glycosides and oleanolic acid were selected for drug release experiments.Compared to untreated HMPSAs, HMPSAs modified with AEO-9 and PEG2000 could convert from hydrophobic to hydrophilic. The contact angle could be reduced from 91.8 to 25.6 , and the 24-hour water absorption could be raised by 170%. The drug release experiments demonstrate that SIS/AEO-9/PEG2000 enhances the release efficiency of the hydrophilic drug gardenia jasminoides by 69%. In summary, as a novel amphiphilic medicinal HMPSAs, SIS/AEO-9/PEG offered a broad application promise in hydrophilic drug release.

Research on bio-plasticizers is a topic of strategic interest in polymer blends. A bio-plasticizer, cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), was studied in blends of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer (SBS). In the literature does not report the addition of plasticizers to SBS/EVA blend. Statistical analyses showed that there was a significant difference in mechanical properties (tension at break, hardness and elongation at break) vs. the unplasticized blend. The minimum CNSL concentration required for a statistical difference was 10 phr. The Carreau-Yasuda rheological model was used to obtain rheological parameters in these blends. The plasticizing influence of CNSL was confirmed by rheology. The effects of CNSL on creep and recovery were evaluated for the SBS/EBA blends. Burger´s model explained well SBS/EVA creep compliance. Moreover, its parameters (Newtonian dashpots and Hookean springs) were evaluated as a function of the CNSL concentrations. The bio-plasticizer concentration influenced significant correlations among the rheological creep-recovery tests, thus enabling a considerable increase in the elastic phase. Experimental creep-recovery data and curve fit were in good agreement.
