Influence of ion beam and silver nanoparticles on dielectric properties of flexible PVA/PANI polymer composite films

Abstract: In this work, a solution cast technique was used to prepare flexible nanocomposite films of PVA/ PANI/Ag with different concentrations of PANI and AgNPs. The samples were described by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and infrared spectroscopy, which confirmed the successful synthesis of the nanocomposite films. After that, the PVA/10%PANI/ 6%Ag nanocomposite film was irradiated by different influences of the oxygen ion beam (8 × 1017, 16 × 1017, and 24 × 1017 ions/cm2). The Ac c… Show more

“…Such kind of variation in the crystallinity of the polymer matrix with the loading of AgNPs has been reported by other researchers. [ 7,33,38–40 ] Since most amorphous samples facilitate ion conduction easily, we expect this sample to show high ionic conductivity.…”

“…In the figure, the peaks intensity of PANI/Ag 2 O‐Ag nanocomposite decreases when adding Ag 2 O and Ag NPs to PANI. This is due to the electrons abundance and therefore, the electrical and the optical properties of the composite are enhanced 27,28 …”

“…Besides, the PANI/Ag 2 O‐Ag nanocomposite pattern also shows peaks at 2θ values ~ (32.3°, 46.6°, and 54.7°), which may be due to the presence of Ag 2 O nanoparticles 32,33 . Further, the average crystal size (D) of Ag nanoparticles is calculated using the Scherrer equation 28 : Dgoodbreak=0.9Lβcoscos0.25emθ0.25em, where L is the X‐ray wavelength ( L = 0.15406 nm), β is the Full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the peak and θ denotes the half angle of diffraction peak (in degrees). The crystal size of Ag nanoparticles at the peak corresponding to the plane (111) is found to be 23.1 nm.…”
