Influence of Plastic Strain Accumulation in Continuous Ingots during ECAP on Structure and Recrystallization Temperature of AlCu4MgSi Alloy

Abstract: This work attempts to process AlCu4MgSi (AW 2017A) alloy continuous ingots by means of the equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) method. The equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) technique has been widely investigated in recent years as the most promising severe plastic deformation (SPD) method. The presented research was focused on the precise determination of the phase composition of the precipitates formed in the AlCu4MgSi alloy and its influence on intensive plastic deformation. In the second stage, the re… Show more

“…14c) indicates a cubic structure with an Im space group, which is consistent with the Al 19 Fe 4 MnSi 2 phase. The lattice parameter was determined to be 1.257 nm, which was in good agreement with that reported by [27]. Figure 15 shows the high-resolution transmission electron micrographs (HRTEM) and corresponding SAED of the M4 sample.…”

“…Tests were carried out on AlCu4MgSi (EN AW-2017A) alloy ingots (30 mm in diameter), which were produced using an aluminium alloys horizontal continuous casting test stand, located in the technological laboratory of the Department of Foundry Engineering at Silesian University of Technology. Detailed description of implemented horizontal continuous casting process and parameters is presented in previous works of the authors [11,12].…”

“…The both studied Al alloys were obtained as 30 mm ingots in a horizontal continuous casting process. Detailed description of implemented horizontal continuous casting process is presented in paper [13] and [14] respectively, for the studied Al-Si and Al-Cu alloys. In detail in studies were used samples of ingots with dimensions: 30mm in diameter and 15mm high in the amount of two pieces for each variant of heat treatment.…”
