Influence of Quercetin and Dihydroquercetin on Some Functional Parameters of Rat Liver Mitochondria

Abstract: Flavonoids are proved to be prominent plant-derived compounds generally found in fruit- and vegetable- rich diets with free radicals quenching ability. Quercetin, a member of flavonoids subclass – flavonols, has gained major attention due to its overwhelming potential. Quercetin was demonstrated to preserve diverse degenerative diseases by inhibiting lipid peroxidation. In the present paper, we deal with two polyphenolic compounds’ – quercetin and dihydroquercetin – influence on functional parameters of mitoch… Show more

“…The mPTP blocker was reported to inhibit mitochondrial contraction by cyclosporin A (Basso et al 2008). It has been detected that the flavonoid dihydroquercetin obtained for the experiment, has an activating effect on the mitochondrial ATP-dependent potassium channel (Gayibov et al 2021). Concentrations of 10-120 μM isoquinoline alkaloid F-18 have been considered to inhibit mitochondrial edema.…”

“…Hence, in the presence of diazoxide, SFL and narcissine in the incubation medium, their cardiac mitochondrial activating property was found to increase (Figure 3). Up to date, many studies have been conducted on the properties of activators of the cardiomyocytes mitoK ATPchannel [6,7,10,11]. However, the effect of SFL and narcissine on the mitoK ATP -channel of the rat heart in the ischemic model has not been studied.…”

“…Such substances that activate the K ATP -channel have been shown to depolarize the cardiac mitochondria [11]. However, since the metabolic activators of the mitoK ATP -channel are synthetic analogues, they may cause disruption of the regulation of cellular ion transport systems in relation to natural active substances [6].…”

“…In the reaction of DPPH with gossitan t50 at 17°C -90 s (with a 1:1 ratio of basic substance to DPPH). For comparison, the data t50 at 20°C with an equimolar ratio of dihydroquercetin and unithiol to DPPH was 105 and 590 seconds, respectively (Gayibov et al, 2021). Analysis of the kinetic curves shows that most of the DPPH molecules are restored in the first 3 minutes of the reaction, and then the reduction reaction proceeds more slowly.…”
