Influence of Sound Wave Stimulation on the Growth of Strawberry in Sunlight Greenhouse

Abstract: Abstract. In this paper, we adopt the QGWA-03 plant audio apparatus to investigate the sound effects on strawberry in the leaf area, the photosynthetic characteristics and other physiological indexes. It was found that when there were no significant differences between the circumstances of the two sunlight greenhouses, the strawberry after the sound wave stimulation grew stronger than in the control and its leaf were deeper green, and shifted to an earlier time about one week to blossom and bear fruit. It was … Show more

“…In Asian countries such as China and Korea, researchers and farmers employ sound, referred to as "Green Music", for crop fitness. 4 However, the output of such approaches is inconsistent and varies with the scientist's skills and experimental conditions. Inconsistent sound effects may also be caused by the lack of optimization of sound quality.…”

“…Sound spectrum irradiation also has a stimulating effect on the cells of higher plants [7][8][9]. Thus, irradiation with a frequency of 0.1-2 kHz, loudness of 100 dB increases the permeability of membranes, improves the activity of protective enzymes and cell division rate.…”

“…The biomass growth raises by 6-30 % depending on the frequency applied [7,8]. In [8,9], it is found that both sound and ultrasound irradiation increase the active transport rate in plant cells as a result of increased activity of membrane Н + -ATPase under the high content of Ca 2+ ions in the cytoplasm.…”

“…Hou et al (1994) reported 100 Hz frequency of an external sound showed positive impact on philodendron plant growth. Qi et al (2010) showed the influence of sound wave stimulation on strawberry leaf area/dimensions, the photosynthetic characteristics, and other physiological responses. The authors reported that the sound waves promoted the growth of strawberry, as well as sound waves enhanced the resistance of strawberry against diseases and insects.…”
