Influence of temperature in the performance of the LED lamp

Abstract: In this work, we analyze the temperature of the LED lamp of white emission with 9 W with or without the influence of the cooling process using a fan. The investigation was carried out by seven different methods: (1) Analysis of temperature close to LEDs inside the bulb (diffuser); (2) Analysis of temperature on LEDs without bulb; (3) Analysis of temperature on LEDs without bulb with cooling using a fan; (4) Analysis of temperature on LEDs board out of body lamp without bulb; (5) Analysis of temperature on LEDs… Show more

“…As this experiment used only one LED lamp from each company, the results obtained represent low precision, but, in general terms, it was possible to verify the degradation of illuminance by elapsed time for all LED lamps tested. The hypothesis to decrease the performance can be attributed to the intern high temperature reached by the semiconductor electronic components inside the body of the lamp and high temperature of LEDs operation inside the diffuser 19 . Then, it is suggested to maintain the temperature stable and below of maximum operation temperature pre-established to the semiconductor electronic components (LEDs, diodes, resistors, integrated circuits, and electrolytic capacitors, mainly) used to the composition of the LED lamp.…”

“…Another very frequent problem observed for LED lamps is related to the appearance of dark spots on the LED device surfaces that are caused by high temperature, ≈ 130ºC, with usage time 15 . The LED devices of lamps are connected electrically in series on the metallic board (used as heat sink).…”
