Influence of terry fabrics structure and finishing on yarn pull-out behaviour

Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the resistance to pile loop extraction of terry fabrics regarding the pile height and impact/finishing. Design/methodology/approach – Fabrics are manufactured by changing the pile height and applying impact/finishing procedures. The resistance to pile loop extraction are determined. The factorial designs are made. For informative experiment the linear type of regression are analysed. … Show more

“…When the maximum pull-out force display was finished, the first decreasing stage passed. Such pull-out phenomenon has the repeating character and was noticed analysing various linen/cotton (Petrulyte et al, 2014) terry fabrics: grey and after waterheat-mechanical-chemical impacts or industrial finishing operations (macerating/washing without detergent/washing with detergent/softening/tumbling) as well as grey ramie/cotton (Petrulyte et al, 2013) terry fabrics. It was determined the repeating character of pile loop pull-out phenomenon with periodic decreasing and increasing lines in an exponential function during all the investigated puling distance, i.e.…”

“…In addition, when analysing the 10 to 25 mm pulling distance, it was seen that the resistance to pile loop extraction increases. With the increase of pulling distance, the pile loop yarn needs to overcome higher resistance, which is originated because of more crossing points in warp/weft floats [26,27,39].…”
