Influence of Yb3+ concentration on the upconversion luminescence of oxyfluoride material doped with Er3+

Abstract: In this paper, a new upconversion luminescent material co-doped with Erbium and Ytterbium is reported. The upconversion luminescence transition routes and related properties are studied. The results show that the absorption and emission intensities under excitation of 980 nm laser increase with the increase of the Yb 3+ concentration. The red emission is stronger than the green emission. The energy transfer process plays an important role in the upconversion mechanism.upconversion, luminescence, Er 3+ , Yb 3+

“…Due to potential applications in solid state lasers, three dimensional displays and anti-forgery, considerable effort has been devoted to the study of upconversion luminescence since the concept was first formulated by Auzel in the mid-1960s [1][2][3][4][5]. Recently, fluorescent bioprobes based on upconversion nanocrystals have attracted much attention because they not only overcome the inherent disadvantages of conventional fluorescence markers such as photobleaching, optical damage and auto-fluorescence, but also allow in vivo imaging of deep tissues [6][7][8][9][10][11].…”
