Influence on the Flexural Behaviour of High-Volume Fly-Ash-Based Concrete Slab Reinforced with Sustainable Glass-Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Sheets

Abstract: Concrete structures provided with steel bars may undergo deterioration due to fatigue and corrosion, which leads to an increase in repair and maintenance costs. An innovative approach to eliminating these drawbacks lies in the utilisation of glass-fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) sheets as reinforcement in concrete structures instead of steel bars. This article relates to the investigation of the flexural behaviour of ordinary portland cement (OPC) concrete slabs and high-volume fly ash (HVFA) concrete slabs re… Show more

“…SCMs have cementitious properties and are employed as a cement alternative [19,20]. A durable structure with less greenhouse gas emission and with less energy can be obtained by the addition of fly ash to the concrete [21][22][23][24]. Investigations are carried out on SCMs for producing sustainable, eco-friendly concrete.…”

“…Results of 15 push-off tests determined, with a high degree of precision, the longitudinal splitting characteristics of a concrete slab in a novel steelconcrete composite beam with headed shear stud connectors [56]. A durable structure with less greenhouse gas emission and with less energy could be obtained by the addition of fly ash to the concrete [57,58]. Experimental investigation on the influence of steel fiber reinforcement at the plastic hinge length of the concrete slab under repeated loading which includes the mechanical properties such as compressive strength and tensile strength of M20-grade concrete that is used for casting specimens are tested through the compressive strength test and the split tensile strength test [59].…”

“…However, pollutants in the clinker lead to increased setting times and reduced pH and strength, which are not conducive to large-scale use of the cement [1,23]. Mineral admixtures such as gypsum and lime are usually added to adjust cement properties to meet the requirements of cement used in different environments [24]. During the hydration of C 4 A 3 $, both gypsum and pH have an important influence on the hydration reaction [25].…”
