“…For the record, a researcher who came from abroad was detected but used the identity of a domestic institution (Gomes, 2014), so it Articles was included in the domestic category. This study departs from an observational study of sustainable tourism research articles published in the Indonesia tourism journals, which was analyzed by content analysis. This study aims to get a complete picture of what and how the manifestation of sustainable tourism research articles in Indonesia has been carried out, especially in methods and its applications. The authors found that tourism journals only occupied a small fraction (0.43%). Twenty-six tourism journals and 304 articles were identified. This study found that most methods used by sustainable tourism researchers generally replicate existing methods; there has been rarely development and or innovation of research methods. Qualitative research far outperforms quantitative and mixed methods, where descriptive qualitative research is the most significant. The application of the study is relatively evenly distributed on the dimensions of sustainable tourism and geographic area, but less on stakeholders and management functions. The authors conclude that the trend of sustainable tourism research published in Indonesian tourism journals is increasing. Tourism researchers are scattered from various parts of Indonesia, but tourism journals in Indonesia have not been able to attracted significant interest of the international research community yet. There has never been an assessment of the journal's methods and applications for sustainable tourism research in Indonesia. Therefore, this paper is beneficial as a reference for sustainable tourism researchers in the future.

This study aimed to investigate the profound influence of tourism investment on the Northern Piedmont of the western High Atlas over 34 years in response to the escalating global trend of tourism-driven land-use changes, particularly in the Marrakesh region. In this context, the driving forces behind the significant transformation of agricultural land and bare soils into tourism-driven investments were evaluated as well as the critical role of accessibility in shaping spatial shifts. The method used high-resolution (10 m) satellite images from Spot 1 (1989), Spot 5 (2003 & 2010), and Sentinel 2 (2022) through remote sensing methods to investigate the historical land-use changes over 34 years. The results showed significant transformations in land-use based on the correlation between improved transportation infrastructure and the growth of tourism ventures, underscoring the role of roads and facilities as catalysts. The analysis suggested the need for reflection on the consequences of unregulated tourism growth, aiming to balance economic benefits with environmental and socio-cultural challenges in sensitive regions. Although tourism significantly contributed to economic development and employment opportunities, it also posed risks when not managed prudently. This underscored the need to strike a harmonious equilibrium between economic prosperity as well as preserving the unique natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region. The insights provided in this analysis had broader implications for responsible planning and management of tourism development in sensitive ecological and cultural regions. In conclusion, a thoughtful and sustainable approach was needed to safeguard the delicate balance between economic prosperity and environmental preservation.

Kajian ini berangkat dari studi observasi terhadap artikel penelitian pariwisata berkelanjutan yang dipublikasikan pada jurnal pariwisata nasional yang terakreditasi SINTA (Science and Technology Index) yang dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi (content analysis). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran yang lebih utuh tentang apa dan bagaimana manifestasi artikel penelitian pariwisata berkelanjutan di Indonesia selama ini dilakukan khususnya pada aspek metode, topik, dan aplikasinya. Jurnal pariwisata menempati fraksi kecil (0,43%) dari jurnal nasional terakreditasi SINTA, dimana terdapat 26 jurnal pariwisata dengan 304 artikel dari 267 peneliti utama yang berasal dari 16 negara berbeda yang melakukan riset pariwisata berkelanjutan. Keterwakilan peneliti internasional belum signifikan, dan mayoritas kontributor jurnal adalah peneliti pemula. Metode deskriptif kualitatif merupakan pilihan utama peneliti. Topik pengembangan, ekowisata, tata kelola, masyarakat, dan desa merupakan yang paling dominan dikaji. Aplikasi kajian cukup merata pada dimensi pariwisata berkelanjutan dan area geografis, namun kurang pada pemangku kepentingan dan fungsi-fungsi pengelolaan. Kajian ini mengimplementasikan pendekatan analisis isi manuskrip kuantitatif sehingga analisis laten dan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis korelasional tidak dilakukan secara mendalam. Beberapa implikasi dari kajian ini diantaranya: 1) memberikan ruang untuk penelitian lanjutan berupa pendalaman riset kualitatif dengan menginklusikan analisis korelasional serta melakukan wawancara kepada peneliti untuk mengungkapkan alasan dan motivasi melakukan penelitian pariwisata berkelanjutan 2) menyisakan ruang pengkajian perbedaan filosofis paradigma penelitian pariwisata berkelanjutan (positivisme, interpretivisme, atau kajian kritis), termasuk melihat dari sisi aksiologis, ontologis dan epistemologisnya 3) mencoba mensimulasikan hasil temuan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk memproyeksikan kondisi penelitian pariwisata di masa yang akan datang.
