Abstract:This paper analyzes ingliding ([ɛ]~[ɛɐ], [ɔ]~[ɔɐ]) in the Brazilian Portuguese spoken in Porto Alegre (RS) in order to examine both the variation pattern as well as the styles and social meanings associated with the variants of the process.
