Inheritance and identification of molecular markers associated with spot blotch (Cochliobolus sativus L.) resistance through microsatellites analysis in barley

Abstract: Spot blotch resistant (IBON 18) and susceptible (RD 2508) lines were crossed to investigate inheritance of resistance and to identify simple sequence repeats (SSRs) associated with resistance. F 1 resistance was intermediate and suggested additive nature of inheritance. Three additive genes was noted in the distribution of F 3 , F 4 and F 5 generations. In F 6 and F 6-7 , the quantitative and qualitative approaches also suggested the control of three resistance genes. The parents and the RILs (F 6 /F 6-7 ) we… Show more

“…Ex Dastur). This major foliar disease occurs in the warmer and more humid growing regions of the world, including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Syria and Australia (Steffenson et al 1996;Kumar et al 2002;Joshi et al 2004;Meldrum et al 2004;Müller et al 2005;Arabi and Jawhar 2007;Kuldeep et al 2008). As the perfect state does not play an important role in the epidemiology of the disease in Australia, the imperfect state is used when referring to the pathogen throughout this paper.…”

“…Single marker analysis using regression analysis in SAS version 9.3 (SAS Institute 2011) was done to determine the association between field spot blotch resistance values and the marker genotype data. The band amplified from each marker data was scored as either 0 to indicate absence of the marker or 1 to indicate presence of the marker for regression analysis (Kuldeep et al 2008; Francis et al 2011). Significance of the regression coefficient suggests that there is a relationship between the marker and the trait (Anandhan et al .…”
