Objetivo: Avaliar as evidências, de produções científicas brasileiras, acerca da influência dos 10 passos para o sucesso do aleitamento materno na continuidade da amamentação. Método: Revisão integrativa de produções científicas brasileiras, desenvolvida em agosto de 2017, nas bases eletrônicas de dados LILACS, SCOPUS e PUBMED. Resultados: A normatização da assistência interfere positivamente na continuidade da amamentação. Treinar a equipe de saúde aumenta a prevalência de aleitamento materno. Orientar as vantagens e o manejo da lactação protege contra mastites, aleitamento misto e desmame precoce. Aqueles que receberam apoio no aleitamento materno na primeira meia hora após o parto estiveram mais propensos a mantê-lo no domicílio. Oferta de substitutos do leite materno, chupetas ou bicos artificiais interfere negativamente no estabelecimento e manutenção da amamentação. Conclusão: Conclui-se, que os dez passos influenciam na continuidade da amamentação e, portanto, é importante que se amplie a cobertura nacional da IHAC.

Transversal study conducted in a Human Milk Bank to evaluate the factors associated with the use of artificial nipples (pacifier and/or nursing bottle) among Brazilian infants. Analyses were performed using the χ2 test and logistic regression analysis. A total of 6017 nursing mothers were evaluated and the use of artificial nipples was reported by 31.3%. The chance of using artificial nipples was higher among infants whose mothers attended antenatal care in private hospitals [odds ratio (OR): 1.61, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.21–2.14], born in maternities without the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) (OR: 18.38, 95% CI 13.50–25.04) and those with adequate birth weight (OR: 2.83, 95% CI 1.99–4.03). A lower chance of using artificial nipples was observed among infants whose mothers had previous breastfeeding experience (OR: 0.76, 95% CI 0.61–0.95), received guidance on breastfeeding during antenatal care (OR: 0.80, 95% CI 0.65–0.98), practiced exclusive breastfeeding (OR: 0.36, 95% CI 0.28–0.45), breastfeeding on demand (OR: 0.66, 95% CI 0.52–0.85) and residents of inland cities/towns (OR: 0.38, 95% CI 0.20–0.72). The findings highlight the importance of breastfeeding guidance during antenatal care and the role of BFHI in clarifying risks associated with artificial nipple use.

Group of pregnant women and / or pregnant couples: a collective construction process (1996-2016)

Objective: To understand how the process of construction of the Group of Pregnant Women and/or Pregnant Couples of the Federal University of Santa Catarina from 1996 to 2016 was established. Method: Qualitative research of a social historical nature, involving nine health professionals who participated in the group of pregnant women and/or pregnant couples in this period. The date of collection took place between February and May 2017. Data analysis was guided by Orem's Self-Care Theory and Bardin's content analysis technique. Results: The process of construction of the group of pregnant women had strong influence from the public health policies of the University Hospital Maternity and its assistance of the time. Likewise, it was created based on the need for guidance to pregnant women and their companions to deal with the pregnancy-puerperal process with the perspective of a multidisciplinary and integral work, stimulating self-knowledge and self-care. Conclusion: The group emerged as an extension project and strengthened by public health policies, its scientific evidences and by the assistance philosophy of a maternity school. The group building process involved a set of actions, planning and execution of activities, building an educational space, free of charge, with an exchange of mutual experience and open to the community.
