Among these faults, the North Channel-Pitas Point (NCPP) fault is believed to be the main controlling structure for producing strong-ground motion at UCSB, because of its size, proximity, and inferred slip rate and because it likely extends directly beneath the campus (Archuleta, et al, 1997). The NCPP fault is imaged in 2-D and 3-D seismic surveys as a blind thrust that terminates about 1.5 km below the seafloor and dips 20 0 -40 0 to the north.…”
