Injection and extraction at damping ring of an electron-positron injection complex VEPP5

Abstract: Engineering aspects of electron and positron injection, storage and extraction in a damping ring of an injection complex are described. Symmetrical strip-line type kickers are used in quasi-traveling wave mode. A generator of a pair of negative and positive polarity pulses bases on two double pulse forming network (DPFN). Both DPFN are charged up to 50 kV using a common pulse transformer. Every DPFN is commutated by single high-voltage hydrogen thyratron. One of the thyratrons has a floating cathode. Special d… Show more

“…In the case of the stored beam, the level of losses was low as compared with the injected beam and not all turns have the same amount of losses. One turn single bunch injection with a pre-kick of the storage beam is used in the IC damping ring [23]. The pre-kick signal triggers the SBLM electronics; it explains the multiple pulses at the beginning of the red and blue plots in figure 13.…”

“…There have been attempts to use a streak camera for Lidar Thomson scattering [24,25]. Figure 10 represents an example of the application of the PS-1/S1streak camera [26] for tuning the damping ring [27] at the BINP.…”
