Inorganic Low k Cage-molecular Crystals

Abstract: For the interlayer dielectric in microelectronics, light element compounds are preferably accepted due to less electronic polarization. Here, the nontrivial dielectric nature of the Sb 4 O 6 cage-molecular crystal, known as α-antimony trioxide (α-Sb 2 O 3 ), is reported. The gas-phase synthesized α-Sb 2 O 3 nanoflakes are of high crystal quality, from which the abnormal local admittance responses were revealed by scanning microwave impedance microscopy (sMIM). The remarkably low dielectric constant (k), 2.0∼2.… Show more

“…For the 9 nm‐thick In 2 P 3 S 9 nanosheet, the calculated average E B is about 8.1 MV cm −1 , which is much larger than the breakthrough field of previously reported layered dielectrics including multilayer h ‐BN, α‐Sb 2 O 3 , etc. [ 26–29 ]…”

“…; the other is introducing pores ( k air = 1) to decrease the density of materials. [ 4 ] The past two decades have witnessed numerous efforts that devote for reducing the k values of materials, ranging from inorganic, [ 4,10,11 ] organic‐inorganic hybrids, [ 12–17 ] to organic polymers, [ 17–23 ] and metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs). [ 24–26 ] Despite these successes, thermally and mechanically robust ultralow‐ k materials are still very scarce.…”
