“…Colloids as pollutant carriers provide the rapid transport pathway and promote the migration of adsorbing contaminants (Simunek et al 2006). Inorganic colloids such as clay and organic colloids such as humus are both responsible for the migration of pollutants (Sun et al 2020). Novikov et al (2006) confirmed that colloids as carriers can promote the long-distance transport of plutonium.…”

“…A higher release of nano-colloids by LSC sediment (Figure 1) may be explained by the more organic character of <0.2 µm fraction and thus enhances organic colloids' repulsion from mineral surfaces, while the RAl (Corg/Al) and RFe (Corg/Al) calculated for the 0.2-1 µm fraction indicate a more mineral composition, with comparable values for LSC and CHA, respectively (see Section 3.1 in Results). The higher content of larger colloids (Figure 1) released by LSC sediments (calcareous character) can be explained by the enhanced formation of organo-mineral associations in the presence of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ , which facilitate cation bridging and thus the aggregation of small colloids to large-sized colloids [37]. Since the concentration of large colloids released from LSC sediments was 12 time higher than that from CHA sediments, it is possible that a higher number of particles per unit volume increased particle collision and allowed its aggregation [38].…”

“…Sr can also react with clinoptilolite in complex reactions and ion exchange reactions, and the sorption process is affected by intraparticle and surface film diffusion [ 18 ]. In addition, batch experiments show that the sorption behavior of Sr can be influenced by many factors, such as temperature [ 19 ], pH [ 20 ], colloids [ 21 , 22 ], solid amount [ 23 , 24 ], initial concentration [ 25 ], and ionic strength [ 26 ]. From the above research, it can be recognized that the adsorption behavior of Sr in the claystone of geological disposal repositories is complex and affected by many factors.…”
