“…Specific data on associated comorbidities from surveys and cohort studies of AF from various Asian countries, compared to non-Asians are summarized in Table 1 [3,[9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. The average age and proportion of females in Asians and non-Asians were broadly similar.…”

“…In the Registry on Cardiac Rhythm Disorders Assessing the Control of Atrial Fibrillation (RECORD-AF), in which 52% of patients were taking warfarin and 42%, aspirin, the Asian subgroup (RECORD-AF-Asia Pacifi c study) involved 2,721 patients (36% Chinese) and reported that 36% were on warfarin and 51% were on aspirin from 2007 to 2008. 18 Th e diff erence in warfarin use in the RECORD-AF-Asia Pacifi c study and in this study could perhaps be related to prescribing habits (a province in China vs other Asia-Pacifi c countries with advanced health-care systems) or the data source, especially since RECORD-AF is an industry-funded commercial study and the present study is based on an administrative dataset. Th e rate of warfarin use in RECORD-AF-Asia Pacifi c probably represents the level of warfarin use in other Asian countries apart from China (ie, only 951 Chinese among the 2,629 Asian patients).…”
